Find answers to common questions about traveling to Bhutan
Yes, all international tourists (except citizens of India, Bangladesh, and Maldives) require a visa to visit Bhutan. Visas are only granted to tourists who have booked travel through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator, like Of Pines & Ciders. We will handle the visa application process on your behalf once you confirm your tour with us.
The daily tariff for tourists visiting Bhutan is set by the Royal Government of Bhutan. For the peak season (March, April, May, September, October, November), the tariff is $250 per person per day. For the off-season (January, February, June, July, August, December), the tariff is $200 per person per day. This tariff includes accommodation, meals, guide services, transportation within Bhutan, and sustainable development fees.
The best times to visit Bhutan are during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) seasons. These periods offer clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and are ideal for trekking and outdoor activities. Spring is particularly beautiful with blooming flowers, while autumn offers clear mountain views and is festival season. Winter (December-February) can be cold but offers clear skies and fewer tourists, while summer (June-August) brings monsoon rains but lush green landscapes.
